Association of Private Medical and Dental Institutions’ Letter to the Chief Minister Regarding admissions in private medical colleges,
The notification issued by the Punjab Health Department and the University of Health Sciences in collaboration should be immediately withdrawn, as the letter contained incorrect interpretations of the law in the admission notifications of private medical colleges. The notification issued by the Punjab government regarding admissions in private medical colleges is causing deep concerns. The letter highlights that the notification will adversely affect the admissions process for MBBS and BDS programs in private medical and dental colleges. It is alarming that all medical and dental colleges are distressed due to this situation. On July 13, 2023, PMDC issued a comprehensive policy on admissions, criteria, and regulations in private medical colleges, which has been issued without due consideration. The Association of Private Medical and Dental Institutions (PAMI) safeguards the interests of medical and dental institutions in the private sector across Pakistan. The concerns persist regarding the notification issued on July 13, 2023, by PMDC without adhering to the guidelines and regulations. The Punjab government’s notification not only violates the PMDC Act 2022 but is also detrimental to aspiring students and private medical colleges. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) lacks the resources to effectively oversee admissions in private colleges. HEC’s continuous failure in managing the timelines of admissions through PMDC has a direct impact on private sector admissions, resulting in the loss of valuable seats. This directly affects the admissions of private institutions, resulting in the loss of valuable seats.
